I have no idea what cross products are, even after reading the wiki page, but hahahaha :D

In simple terms they are a mathematical concept such that if you have two vectors, or arrows if you will, and you take their cross product, then you will get a third arrow that is perpendicular (står vinkelrett på) to the two others. Above the two vectors are thought to be drawn in his book. So, consequently, when he crosses them the third vector comes out of the books, because that is the only way to be perpendicular to the two others. Hope this helps somewhat.
Don't worry if you are not finding it all that funny though. :p

Well, I did find it very funny, because I understood the essence of the strip :)

Glad to hear. :D
This is the kind of humor you get after having struggled with some impossible task for too long. I have no doubt you know what I'm talking about there. Even if your studies are somewhat different. :)
